This weekend, many of us, all over the world are celebrating Easter. However, this year it is going to be a little different as most of the world faces lockdown and shutdown due to COVID-19.

Lalibela, in order to help combat the spread of the virus, is temporarily closed. However, we haven’t forgotten about you. We have been bringing you daily updates from the reserve with our Stay at Home Safari. Craig, our head ranger, has been sending us daily videos of the reserve’s wildlife and bird life, bringing a little piece of the African bush into our homes.

However, Easter is a celebration very much centred around food – chocolate, lamb, fish and hot cross buns. So, we got in touch with our Executive Chef, Carl, to see if he would share a few of the Lalibela kitchen’s Easter recipes with us. He went above and beyond, compiling a full Easter menu complete with some delicious South African culinary twists.

So if you have time on your hands, which many of us currently do, why not get into the kitchen, get the family involved and cook up a Lalibela-inspired Easter feast!
