THOBANI
A welcome cocktail, a warming sundowner drink on a game drive, a refreshing sparkling water by the pool, or a hot chocolate in front of the fire, drinks are a small something that are a part of so many memories made at Lalibela. We are lucky to have such wonderful waiters, always ready to pour a thirst-quenching drink. We had a quick bar-side chat with Thobani, a waiter Kichaka Lodge, with a delicious drink in hand.
1. How long have you been at Lalibela?
I’ve been here for 9 years now.
2. How has your journey at Lalibela been?
It’s been interesting. I started in maintenance. I worked my way up to become a waiter at Kichaka.
3. What’s your favourite part of the job?
I like to interact with people. And to make cocktails. My family is in Grahamstown which is close, so I can see them often. It’s nice to be close to them.
4. Do you have a signature cocktail?
I like the mojito. It’s a classic, but I love mojitos.
5. What’s your favourite animal?
The cheetah, it’s skinny and fast, and beautiful as well. The tear marks, I love them. It’s a very special animal to me.
